ToggleAxial Angle Resource Sheet
Accurate axial angle measurements are critical in lumbosacral surgeries, especially for pedicle screw placements. The Axial Angle Recorder from Ruthless Spine provides surgeons with an efficient tool to document the angles at each vertebral level. While helpful, this recorder is not required for the Ruthless Spine RJB system.
The RJB System
The RJB system by Ruthless Spine is an Intraoperative Surgical Angle Measurement tool targeted for improving ease, efficiency and cost-effectiveness in procedures for lumbosacral pedicle screw placements.
Ruthless Spine’s system provides measurements for angles in two planes relative to the vertical gravitational plumb line. The RJB device does not provide surgical assistance, guidance, or navigation against patient anatomy. As such, The RJB device is not intended to replace a surgeon’s clinical judgment. What is an Axial Angle Recorder?
Our Axial Angle Recorder is a simple tool that may help surgeons record axial angles at various levels of the lumbar spine. It utilizes the original angulation of the sacrum determined by preoperative MRI scans. Thus aiding calculation corrections for different levels such as L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, and S1. These angles are crucial for ensuring the correct alignment of pedicle screws during surgery.
This sheet simplifies the recording process by providing columns for both the left and right sides of each vertebral level. Thus allowing surgeons to make real-time adjustments based on intraoperative findings.
How to Use Our Axial Angle Resource
To use the Axial Angle Recorder, surgeons first calculate the angulation of the sacrum from MRI or CT scans. This angle serves as the reference point for all subsequent levels. By recording the left and right angles for each vertebral level, from L1 to S1, the surgeon can make precise adjustments during the surgery.
